Kara Rosenlund may well be familiar to you already.
Indeed, this Brisbane based photographer, stylist, author, shop-keeper and all-round adventurer has quite the devoted following.
And with very good reason.
Kara’s curious spirit and passion for storytelling is intoxicating, as she lovingly captures moments in time that are equal parts raw, honest and disarmingly beautiful.

5 words to describe my style are:
1 Textural
2 Easy going
3 Timeless
4 Natural
5 Carefree
My go-to outfit is:
A simple cotton shirt dress with a vintage leather belt
On the top of my wish list is:
More handmade bangles from the Himba tribeswomen in Namibia who I spent time with in the desert.
Heels or flats?
Flats, I’m always on the run in my sandals.
The best (fashion) lesson I’ve learnt is:
Understand who you are and dress for your own personal style. Trends come and go, style is lasting. Also, not every colour is going to be your colour.
My most recent fashion purchase is:
An antique woven shoulder bag from PnG. The shoulder strap is too short though, so I reworked it as a little utility bag. I love it.
I keep buying more:
Tan leather sandals.
I need more:
Hats, I have a thing for vintage straw summer hats. I wear them and decorate the house with them. Endless summer vibes with hats.
I wish I’d never bought:
A stunning layered Akira cape, which was a complete piece of art, though on me it looked like I had a run through a Spotlight remnant sale with a hot glue gun.
If I could only keep 3 things in my wardrobe, they would be:
1. A vintage wool knitted cape.
2. A tan travel blanket a friend gave me; I wear it as a cape, a scarf and a throw for the bed.
3. My leather handbag, made for me by cordwainer (read: shoemaker) and friend Jess Wootten, which I drew on a piece of paper and he made come to life. This year I was able to make the bag available in my online shop and I’m so excited about it.
My favourite labels are:
Anything vintage, classic silhouettes… if it catches my eye, the label doesn’t matter.
My favourite online shops are:
Instagram, I use Instagram for everything, including shopping and inspiration!
I always feel happy when I wear:
My Isabel Marant floral wrap maxi, the fabric just floats and I feel like its the 1940s everyday.
I wish I’d never got rid of:
This amazing soft pink vintage silk trench coat…. redonated it… I think of her every week, where are you now Trenchy?
Any outfit looks better with:
A smile and a signature fragrance.
Is it better to be overdressed or underdressed?
Overdressed, then playing it cool with messy hair.
Lipstick or gloss?
Lipstick
Coffee or tea?
Both! Coffee in the morning and tea in the afternoon.
I could happily live the rest of my life without seeing another:
Acai bowl. I don’t like that stuff.
