• IN HER WARDROBE

    Kirsten Bookallil

    Friday 22nd Nov 2013

Today at INEZ Daily we take a peek into the wardrobe of my lovely, terribly talented friend, Kirsten Bookallil.

Kirsten’s style is faultless. Born in Chicago, raised in Johannesburg and now living in Sydney, she is one of Australia’s best lifestyle, interior and food stylists.

Starting her career as a graphic designer, she later became a stylist because “I like things in order”. When not working with clients like Sheridan, Sportscraft, Witchery or Country Road, her work can be found in the pages of Vogue Living, Belle, Harper’s Bazaar and Gourmet Traveller.

Aside from her curious, always charming and often humorous eye for detail, the thing I love (and dearly envy) most about Kirsten is her amazing sense of calm. No matter what chaos is circling (and there is often chaos in the styling business), this busy mother of 2 manages to always maintain an (exceptionally stylish) level-head.

    Broderie Anglaise

    Friday 25th Oct 2013

When styling a shoot, I draw my inspiration from many (often pretty random) places – watermelon eyebrows anyone? or how about a baby elephant?

But being a a massive cinephile (read: movie nerd), it’s often a film that has inspired me.

Today was the dreamy, slightly sinister ‘Picnic at Hanging Rock’.

I remember watching this and not being too worried about Miranda:

    6 year old me:
“I think she’s just fallen down between some rocks. I’m sure she’ll be ok”

…but being totally transfixed by all the wonderful, white cotton dresses the girls got to wear. I have been a sucker for lace, broderie anglaise and cotton voile ever since.
