Fiona Kowalski

    Friday 27th Dec 2013

Fiona Kowalski is the warm, funny, super-stylish¬†founder of children’s clothing label¬†Printebebe¬†(pronounced print baby) – an adorable collection printed¬†smock¬†dresses, blouses and bloomers.

Her career has seen her travel full-circle, starting out as a designer then moving into the role of fashion editor and stylist for many years in Hong Kong, New Zealand, London and Australia. It was the birth of her daughter Gidget (now 2) however, that inspired her move back into designing.

“I started Printebebe because I wanted to create affordable children’s clothing that was pretty and easy to wear.¬†It has been fun, more hard work than I ever imagined, but so rewarding too”.

    The Jewelled Sandal

    Tuesday 24th Dec 2013

Comfortable is not a word you hear too often in stylish circles. Tailored, yes. Structured, often. But the word comfortable always seems at odds with anything really fabulous.

Let me introduce you to one of my favourite labels – Marni.

Marni is hands-down the master at ‚Äėfabulous and comfortable‚Äô (whilst simultaneously specialising in fun and whimsical – hence why I like them so much).

Case in point Рthe Marni jewelled calf hair sandal, $510

    Broderie Anglaise

    Friday 25th Oct 2013

When styling a shoot, I draw my inspiration from many (often pretty random) places Рwatermelon eyebrows anyone? or how about a baby elephant?

But being a a massive cinephile (read: movie nerd), it’s often a film that has inspired me.

Today was the dreamy, slightly sinister ‘Picnic at Hanging Rock’.

I remember watching this and not being too worried about Miranda:

    6 year old me:
“I think she’s just fallen down between some rocks. I’m sure she’ll be ok”

…but being totally transfixed by all the wonderful, white cotton dresses the girls got to wear. I have been a sucker for lace, broderie anglaise and cotton voile ever since.
